"Building new lanes for existing roads or building new roads to deal with road congestion is like buying a bigger pair of pants to deal with a weight problem."

Contained within these pages are my opinions on lots of bicycle-related subjects. Newer mini-rants will appear below, and then be cycled onto the mini-rants page.

Recreational Riding (Mt. Biking)

I'd never thought I'd enjoy this sport until I tried it. I took my first ride at the end of this summer on a rented bike. It was awesome. A lot like skiing except in the summer. I recommend trying mountain biking for anyone who likes traditional road biking. My only concern is: most mountain biking trips do not begin from the front door, but instead the bikes are carted around on the back of a car, or the roof of an SUV. This is a waste of good riding time and a good warm-up. If you can ride from your house, do it. Leave the car at home.
